The Formula 1 Champion, Lewis Hamilton, spent Monday 20th January at the Maranello headquarters for his first official day with the team, almost one whole year after he signed a multi-year contact to drive for Ferrari in February 2024.
Lewis took to Instagram to share his thoughts on his first day admitting “part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red” and that he “couldn’t be happier to realise that dream”.
Last year Formula 1 Fans considered Hamilton replacing Carlos Sainz on team red as a shock move labelling it ‘unusual’ going to a team which has become very very competitive. However, Hamilton has since advocated to fans that they should “Embrace the change. Whether you’re switching industries, learning a new skill, or even just taking on new challenges, remember that reinvention is powerful.” as 2025 begins.
Hamilton told sources that the decision to switch was one of the hardest he has ever made as he had driven with Mercedes for 12 years from 2013 to 2024. Hamilton’s partnership with Mercedes was one of the most successful and longest in Formula 1 history, winning 6 Formula 1 World Championships for the team in 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020. So Fans are eager to see how he’ll perform at Ferrari considering his reputation and background.
He spent his first day on the team meeting the chairman, John Elkann, the CEO Benedetto Vigna and the executive Fred Vasseur before getting acquainted with the Maranello Ferrari Factory. Since Monday, Lewis has seemed to settle in quite comfortably during his first week at Ferrari. Especially, on Wednesday 22nd on which he took to track for Hamilton’s first January testing in red. From the photos taken by spectators on Wednesday and Hamilton fully embracing his new role online it seems the former Mercedes driver has made the right choice.
