      Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S

The safety car with the three-pointed star has been a constant feature for 26 years now, and during that time, high-performance models, including the Mercedes-Benz CL 55 AMG, the Mercedes-Benz C 36 AMG and the spectacular SLS AMG gullwing specially developed by Mercedes-AMG, have all been utilised.

2022 F1 season is now set to mark a premiere when the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (fuel consumption combined: 12.8 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 292 g/km)¹  leads the field as the safety car.

At the same time, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4MATIC+ (fuel consumption combined: 13.5-13.0 l/100 km, CO2 emissions combined: 308-295 g/km)¹  will make its debut as the medical car. These two F1 safety vehicles about to be deployed this season will be the most powerful ever used and will sport the same distinctive red livery as last year. View experiences here

Arguably the most visually appealing Aston Martin in the range, the Vantage is a taut mix of muscularity and Aston’s traditional elegance. It works very well too, with the squat, purposeful proportions conveying the obvious sporting intent. Select your experience here

Aston Martin’s Vantage safety car is technically upgraded from the original road-going version of the sportscar - but has now been released as a bespoke F1 model.

The 4-litre turbo V8 pumps out 535PS (528hp) – which is 25PS more than the basic road going car. This gives it an acceleration figure of 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds

With an added front splitter and vaned grille, the Vantage creates 155.6kg of downforce at 200km/h, which is 60kg more than the production car creates at the same speed.

The safety car also features upgraded suspension, steering and dampers, as well as bracing modifications to help with front structural stiffness.

It features its flashing light panel in the more traditional position on top of the roof.

      Italia

Ferrari may have been founded on a series of V12-powered cars, but some of its most successful models were those fitted with a mid-rear-mounted V8. And so it is with the Ferrari 458 Italia – the name meaning 4.5-litres and eight cylinders, with Italia thrown it at the end in homage to its home country. It was hailed by none other than Jeremy Clarkson as one of the most beautiful Ferraris ever made. Select your experience here

      Ferrari F488 GTB

The Ferrari 488's bodywork has been meticulously crafted to achieve a 50% surge in downforce compared to the 458, all the while diminishing aerodynamic drag at the front, a novel dual splitter serves a dual purpose: not only does it enhance radiator cooling by forcibly directing air into them, but it also expertly guides the airflow over the underbody vortex generators, generating ground effects without tacking on undesirable drag. Moving to the rear, a fresh rear spoiler (which can be described as a slotted flap) has been seamlessly integrated into the rear decklid and bumper. This innovative design elevates downforce performance without necessitating the use of a raised wing situated centrally, the "Aero Pillar" masterfully redirects air beneath the car's flat body, and two vents positioned in the bonnet serve as outlets for air from the front bumper's dual intakes. This ingenious arrangement further mitigates air pressure over the car's frontal area. Select your experience here

      Lamborghini Urus LP 640-4

A Lamborghini SUV? Really? Well, yes, and actually, the Lamborghini Urus isn’t the Italian firm’s first, either. That was the LM002 launched back in the mid-Eighties, which had the power, but not the handling to go with it, preferring to be off-road instead.

The Lamborghini Urus, on the other hand, is very much a road machine. The LM002, then, is a bit like rugged, outdoor-friendly Columbia clothing, where the Urus is more like Adidas’s Y-3 brand, which puts equal emphasis on style and performance.

At launch the McLaren 570S represented a toe dipped into new waters, it’s the forerunner of McLaren’s everyday Sports Series line up - from a manufacturer historically linked with high-performance supercars. This is a seriously fast machine, it is powered by the 3.8-litre V8 used in all McLarens. It has two turbochargers, which help deliver a surge of acceleration in the middle of the rev range.  Select your experience here

Hardcore 493 bhp GT3 RS represents a new level for the Porsche 911 - faint hearts need not apply. The grip is colossal, and you can, once you get brave, play with the balance - small, carefully measured adjustments only though, please. It takes time to fully appreciate, but like all good cars, it’s one that communicates brilliantly, and leaves you wanting more, makes you want to learn and improve. Doesn’t suffer fools, though. Select your experience here
